Buildings IOT is looking for the Director of Sales Applications Engineering, a role is critical to our team’s success in delivering software-based controls and services to our rapidly expanding customer base.

Job Summary

As the Director of Sales Applications Engineering, you will be in regular contact with customers who are seeking help in solving various technological challenges across their commercial portfolio of buildings. You will be responsible for aligning solutions to their challenges leveraging your expertise.  A core component of the role is engaging in pre- and post-sale technical support and demonstrations. 

Your role is to deeply understand the OnPoint and IOT Jetstream offerings and demonstrate their capabilities to customers. In the process you will gain a mastery around the application of control systems and applications from multiple providers within our connected ecosystem (Siemens, Schneider, JCI, Honeywell, Tridium, Enlighted, DG Lux, Sauter, Lassen…)  You will work across different teams within Buildings IOT, partners and customers to deliver well designed and proposed solutions.

(Remote is available in the following cities: Boston, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C.)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for owning the Sales Applications Engineering function for Buildings IOT. This includes defining how the function operates with customers and across the overall organization.
  • The director of Sales Applications Engineering owns the technical client engagement process – this includes in preparing for and delivering platform demonstrations. Discussing use cases, understanding from a consulting perspective the client’s challenge and use cases.
  • He/ She is the partner to the sales team and supports them in client engagements – both face to face and virtual as needed. The director seeks to advance the sales process with customers by demonstrating the value of the solutions BIOT provided.
  • He / she will engage at a deep technical level with customers to understand their landscape and propose a technical solution which addresses the customer’s needs.
  • He / she works with the project implementation team to confirm the scope of implementation and customer success team to ensure a proper customer go-live occurs. 
  • Provide the technical voice of the customer and interface with the product development teams to advise of roadmap requested items for the offerings
  • He / She must possess an entrepreneurial spirit and integrity to be successful in the role.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering
  • 5+ Years with experience with IT/OT and working IoT platforms and SaaS providers in a customer-facing or support role.
  • 3+ years of experience in the HVAC industry performing
  • Preference to those with backgrounds as a technical architect, technical sales engineer, or solutions architect.
  • A demonstrated desire to merge operational technology and cloud-based internet technology to solve real-world problems in an innovative manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience in performing technical presentations or public speaking.
  • Ability to organize tasks from multiple projects, deadlines and responsibilities. 
  • Ability and desire to deeply learn about commercial buildings control systems, automation, and cloud solutions proliferating in the built environment (i.e., AIQ, occupancy monitoring…)
  • Experience with control systems and protocols including Niagara, BACnet, Modbus a plus. 
  • Experience with commissioning/retro-commissioning a plus. 
  • Experience with lighting and electrical systems a plus.
